The screenshots above are email campaigns for our startup - Impulza. A project which I’ve been running from 2023-2025.
The goal was to remind our app users about the newest updates, but mainly about using the app! I will tell you one thing, well actually two. People hate spam (obviously) and love good drama.
🙈 Sounds weird, right?
To achieve good open rates in your email marketing campaigns, you have to combine multiple things at once. It’s a recipe!
💡 It’s not always just a "catchy title" or a perfect image. In my case, it was not being too much in the sense of sending emails every week, but also being a bit dramatic and bringing a kind of "surprise" in every subject line.
Remember rule number one: never lie! People will sense it and unsubscribe if your email is misleading. Just be you, original, unique, and don’t strictly follow formal language. People love authenticity and a bit of juice in it.
❗ I also learned that a hook is not supposed to be just in the subject line but also in the first paragraph so you keep them engaged. This is, of course, common sense, but not that many marketers are focusing on that. They just want to sell something immediately in the first sentence, and that’s bad.
